Actually I have had more problems with black spot this year than any other as well.... A couple of my rose bushes aren't doing so well. The majority though I caught early and although I didn't stop it... I cut back and cleaned up and new growth sprouted fast.

Karen, I am going to pass the crown to you as Rose Queen. I have had sooooo much trouble this year. It just breaks my heart to have my roses look so pitiful this year. We have had so much rain and I have blackspot on almost every rose. I have sprayed non-stop, but I am about to give up. I have a few blooms, but they are leafless the bottom two thirds of the bushes. I called a nursery I love, and they said it was the wet spring and early humidity....plus my location... I live on a 48 acre lake. They think we have too much moisture in the air for growing roses. I will not take them out, but I am not buying any new ones either. So.... I will enjoy yours!

I'm not sure if the clematis is 'Nelly Mosier',I planted it 4 years ago and didn't take note and my memory is going down hill, lol. It sure looks like Nelly and she can take more shade than other types of clematis and this one does real nicely with only morning sun, I'd say it probably is.

Yes, I hear ya, Karen. We must stay positive. :) It's all a learning process. I lost a few plants this past winter and wouldn't you know it, the joy of designing and implementing a replacement scheme is a lot of fun. I love all your fern choices, especially the Ostrich fern.
