First Signs of Spring

I took a walk around last evening and was surprised to see ..... tulips.
Not crocus, not daffodils but tulips?

Below are my red tulips which face the south side of my home. Last year these didn't start sprouting until March.

Uh-oh a bulb popped out of the ground, I think I'll just push that rascal back in the ground.

Another tulip facing on the north side of my home.

And this morning ....................... snow

I'm Melllllllllllting

It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so! ~Mark Twain

We have had warm and cold , warm and cold, and more warm and cold weather which provides us with such huge icicles around the building where I work. These pictures were taken a couple of weeks ago.

As I look out my window today however, all ice is gone and it is raining. Hopefully these are the first of our spring showers.

Daylily Seeds

My green thumb came only as a result of the mistakes I made while learning to see things from the plant's point of view. ~H. Fred Ale

Last fall I collected some daylily seeds from some Stella O'dora plants at work. I planted some and well........ I forgot about the others. I had the seeds tucked away in my frig and found them. The seeds were inside a ziplock bag and most all of them had roots!?

This is something very new to me so we shall see if nature will surprise me. The above picture you see a little sprout. So if even one of them survives I will be elated.

Hoosier Weather

Let us permit nature to have her way. She understands her business better than we do. ~Michel de Montaigne

Yesterday and today we have spring teaser weather. In my previous post on January 28th we had 10" snow. The snow is gone and the temperature is 65 as I post this entry.

Typical of Indiana weather though, it will get cold again by the end of the week. This year winter has been colder and colder longer than in recent memory, with temps in the single digits. Where's global warming when you want it? haha

Here in Indiana after winter when temperatures raise into the 50's you will see people driving with their windows down, opening windows to the house or outside with a light jacket. Same is true in Indiana after summer when fall arrives and the temperatures dive into the 50's, Hoosiers will say it's cold and put on those jackets and roll up those windows. Funny how the same temperatures feel different depending upon what season it is.

The good thing about being a Hoosier is just when you have had enough of one season the next is around the corner.
