Newspaper weeds away
Plant your flowers, vegetables etc, work the nutrients in your soil. Layer wet newspapers around the plants overlapping as you go. Cover with mulch and forget about the weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not get through wet newspapers.
Squirrel Away!
To keep squirrels from eating your plants sprinkle your plants with cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper doesn't hurt the plant and the squirrels won't come near it.

Good morning Karen. I love to look at rose photos. That Buck rose is gorgeous. They are all doing well, especially for newly planted bushes.
Have a wonderful weekend enjoying your lovely roses.

With Crocus rose you have picked a winner! It is going to be big and produces lots of flowers. Ebb tide is on my wish list - I think I can find a spot for this beautiful rose! It must be so hard to grow roses when those darn japaneese beetles chew away!
Beautiful roses, Karen. You must have done something right for them to bloom so well this first year!
What beautiful roses you have in your garden. They seem healthy and happy.
love the new slide show! how fun!
Karen, what a wonderful showing of the roses. I'm sure I couldn't pick a favorite. Just don't let those darn Japanese Beetles get to them.
I love roses but I've never had much success with them other than the Knockouts and Carpet roses. Yours are lovely.
Very pretty slide show with beautiful flowers!
