A Year of Firsts - Clematis

Earth is here so kind, that just tickle her with a hoe and she laughs with a harvest. ~Douglas William Jerrold, about Australia, A Land of Plenty

This clematis , I lost the name but it looks like "Nelly Moser", was planted in the spring of 2006, that same year and 2007 it had around 2 or 3 blooms for the entire season. Now look at it! This is it's first year of such prolific blooms.

Last fall and spring 2007 I planted several other clematis none of which I have any blooms yet:
1 - Unknown of white variety
I think the bishop's weed helped as clematis like their roots shaded. Last year I dug up rocks out of this bed. The rocks were on top of landscaping fabric so I removed it as well, and surprise! the bishop's weed popped up.

The bishops weed look great with the clematis. And wow what a pretty one it is. It's a good feeling to know your hard work payed off.

Watch that bishops weed...it isn't called 'weed' for nothing!

Beckie/Vonlafin -
I thought the bishops weed looks great too, but I have been a little worried it may take over.

I am going to have to post a picture of my clematis--it looks almost like yours! Like you, too, I planted mine in the summer of 06 and had a few blooms on a single vine last year. This year, though, it's been amazing. I counted app. 30 blooms today. I check it everyday; I am just in awe at how quickly it has filled out. Let us know if your other clematis do as well.

I'm pretty sure you're right, that is Nelly Moser.
We call bishop's weed snow-on-the-mountain. I have ripped and ripped and ripped that stuff out of my yard. It took years to get rid of it. I still have some growing under some yews and far, far away from my garden.
It looks pretty, though.
